South African born writer-director Harold Hölscher was catapulted to prominence when his first short film, IBALI won awards for best directing, cinematography, animation, acting and overall excellence at the NTVA’s Stone Awards.
The film was consequently selected for screening at several international festivals including the African Film Festival (Milan), the Commonwealth Film Festival(UK), the Genoa Film Festival, the Locarno Film Festival and Cape Town World Cinema Festival.
Most recently, Hölscher’s debut feature '8' garnered 23 international awards, including best director at both the International Independent Film Awards and Fright Night Film Festival.
It had its world premiere at the 2019 FANTASIA Film festival and got picked up by NETFLIX. Internationally it can be viewed on AMAZON/APPLE TV as THE SOUL COLLECTOR.
His series work includes LUDIK, a NETFLIX crime thriller series for which he directed 3 episodes, HARTKLOP a 13 part medical drama and most recently SAVAGE BEAUTY season2 A NETFLIX original.
He is currently in development with a sci fi/horror film DEEPCROSS, UMUTHI a gothic horror fairytale and a western THE DEATH OF COLM CANTER.
